Evelyn Horton Smith, born June 23, 1945, has passed at the age of 80 years old. She went home on Tuesday, September 30. Born and raised in Franklin County, she lived in Burlington for over 60 years. Over those years she has been an active member at Eastlawn Baptist, Brookwood Baptist, and Holly Hill Baptist churches; although Eastlawn was always home, seeing as she enjoyed many years working in their afterschool program.
Evelyn is preceded in death by her mother and father, two brothers, a sister, her son (Michael Dahmer Smith), her daughter (Pamela Joyce Smith), and her husband (Dahmer Lorenzo Smith, Jr.). She is survived by her grandson/adopted son (Michael David Smith) and his wife (Amber Marie Smith) as well as her great-granddaughter (Norah Rose Smith).
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 5, 2025 in the Rich and Thompson Chapel in Burlington with the family receiving friends from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm prior to the service.
