Interim deputy clerk returns as interim clerk to commissioners

DiAnne Yancey, Elon’s retired municipal clerk, received an enthusiastic welcome from John Paisley, Jr., the chairman of Alamance County’s commissioners, when she joined the board of commissioners on Monday to begin her turn as county’s interim clerk.

Yancey had previously held a temporary posting as the county’s interim deputy clerk following her departure from Elon a few years ago. Paisley told his fellow commissioners that he immediately recalled Yancey’s erstwhile clerkship when the county’s longtime clerk Tory Frink formally tendered her resignation last month.

“And I suggested to [Alamance County’s manager] Ms. [Heidi] York that we appoint this young lady as interim,” he added of the retired municipal clerk.

The commissioners ultimately capped off their meeting on Monday with an hour-long closed session about a current or prospective employee – an apparent reference to their search for a new permanent clerk.
