Southern, Eastern, Southeast roll up big point totals

C.J. McAdoo scored on two long plays, Jacob Alexander scored three touchdowns and gained 173 yards on the ground, and Sincere Thompson rushed for 161 yards in Southern Alamance’s 57-24 victory against host Cummings on Friday night in Burlington.

Southern (6-3 overall, 5-1 Mid-Carolina Conference) has won three in a row.

Devin Witherspoon scored two touchdowns and Ja’Kori McNair threw for 265 yards for Cummings (2-7, 0-6), including notching the game’s first points on a 4-yard run.

Thompson had a 14-yard TD run and McAdoo’s 75-yard interception return.

Following McNair’s 22-yard touchdown pass to Witherspoon, Southern took the lead for keeps on Tustin Johnson’s 1-yard run in the second quarter. The margin grew quickly after an onside kick, with Jacob Alexander running 13 yards to the end zone. Edwin Camacho’s 45-yard field goal made it 28-17 at halftime.

Alexander ran 28 yards for his second touchdown. Johnson’s only pass of the game resulted in a 32-yard scoring hookup with Eli Gilley. Alexander then ran 48 yards for a touchdown. Alexander’s production came on nine carries.

McNair’s 2-yard run marked Cummings’ first points of the second half before McAdoo ran 62 yards for a touchdown.

 

Eastern Alamance 56, Graham 0: At Mebane, Christian Hester returned two interceptions for touchdowns and all the scoring came in the first half in Eastern’s final home game of the season.

The Eagles (4-5, 3-3) eclipsed last year’s victory total.

Braxton Ballard threw a 35-yard touchdown pass to Devontia Clark and flipped another TD pass to Douglas Kittrells Jr. Samuel Raphael ran for two touchdowns and Jamez Cochran and Dereon Garner also scored on running plays.

Hester was untouched to the end zone on both his pick-offs, with the second one coming off a deflection.

Graham is 0-9, 0-6.

 

Southeast Alamance 42, Roxboro Person 18: At Haw River, the host Stallions (6-3, 3-3) won for the second week in a row, eclipsing the 40-point mark for the fifth time this year.

Roxboro Person is 4-5, 2-4.
