Alamance County’s resident superior court judge, Andy Hanford, has announced he won’t seek a second term next year.
Hanford, a Democrat, was first elected in 2018. His eight-year term expires in December, 2026.
“After much thought and reflection,” Hanford announced today, “I will not seek reelection and will retire from the Superior Court bench at the end of my current term in December 2026.”
Hanford, 58, says he will not be retiring altogether, however. “I look forward to practicing law with my son and spending more time with my family, especially our new grandson.”
