As they started their meeting Monday night, Mebane’s city council members took a moment to honor their city attorney of 11 years, Lawson Brown, who has recently completed 50 years in the legal profession.
Brown serves as a part-time city attorney for Mebane, while also remaining as a partner with the Vernon Law Firm in Burlington. As such, he has served individuals, businesses, local governments, and non-profit organizations across Alamance County and beyond.
Brown is a graduate of East Carolina University (B.A. in Political Science, graduating with honors) and Wake Forest University School of Law (where he served on the Law Review Board of Editors).
Brown has also been active in the state bar association and with various local community boards. He resides in Burlington with his wife, Lou Ann.
