John Frank Edwards, age 72, passed away January 19, 2026 at Compass Healthcare and Rehab, Mebane, NC. He was born in Burlington, NC January 1, 1954 to Frank and Betty Edwards. In his younger years he moved to Wayne, Michigan, then moved to Georgia, then to Texas then to Virginia Beach, Virginia and back to Burlington, where he finished high school at Western, which he was proud of.
He loved softball and played on school teams at a young age, then he played for Boswell Surveyors and a church team.
He loved fishing at Carolina Beach and just being at the beach. John and friends hunted for arrowheads for years. He also had a small garden and gave most everything away.
John was a friend to everyone and always eager to help people. He was a surveyor for Alley, Williams, Carmen and King for years until failing health.
He is survived by his sister Becky and her husband Dave, nephews Jeffrey of Corinth, Texas, Jason and wife Amanda of Burlington, NC, and nieces Katie and Vanessa.
Special thanks to Hospice and everyone at Compass Health Care and Rehab for their great care and also thanks to special guys he worked with – Gary, Craig, Fred, and Wayne – they were so much help to John and his sister, Becky.
