An Alamance County grand jury has indicted a popular former Southern High School teacher on two counts of felony indecent liberties with a student and one count of misdemeanor solicitation of prostitution.
Bills of indictments were returned against Nicholas (“Nick”) Allen Anders, 53, white, male, 101 Kingston Lane, Graham, following two recent grand jury sessions. The Graham police had charged him with four offenses – two counts of felony indecent liberties with a Southern High School student; one count of misdemeanor sexual battery; and one count of solicitation of prostitution – shortly before the 2024-25 school year ended in June 2025.
Anders was indicted last Wednesday, March 4, for the charge of felony indecent liberties with a student that allegedly occurred on April 22, 2025.
He was indicted on February 18 of this year for the charges of felony indecent liberties with a student and misdemeanor solicitation of prostitution, according to Anders’ court file.
The charge of felony indecent liberties with a student and solicitation of prostitution allegedly occurred with two separate victims on May 9, 2025, while Anders was a teacher and the victim of the indecent liberties charge was a student at Southern High School, according to the indictment.
An earlier offense of indecent liberties with a student allegedly occurred with a third victim, also a student, on April 22, 2025, while Anders was a teacher, the indictment states.
The Graham police department charged Anders with misdemeanor sexual battery on June 9, 2025 for an offense that allegedly occurred on March 7 of last year; the case remains pending in the Alamance County criminal court system.
Anders had long led the state and national award-winning Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapter at Southern High School, where he’d been employed as an agriculture teacher in the high school’s career and technical education (CTE) department since 2005. He resigned from Southern High School on May 30, 2025, just days prior to being charged by the Graham police department.
Anders had been suspended with pay from April 23 to April 24, 2025, Alamance-Burlington school officials confirmed in response to a public records request by The Alamance News. No reason for the suspension was given. He subsequently resigned effective June 30, 2025.
The Graham police department said in a subsequent release that it had launched an investigation into a report of a teacher having inappropriate sexual contact with a student on May 29.
In addition to his teaching position, during the 2024-25 school year, Anders had served as: an assistant lacrosse coach, assistant track coach, and assistant athletic director; a weightlifting coach and a junior varsity volleyball coach, according to ABSS.
Graham attorney Tony DiLello is representing Anders, who is scheduled to make his next appearance in Alamance County superior court on April 13.
