Southern Alamance won its first two boys’ lacrosse games last week, winning 10-4 at Northwood with three goals and three assists from J.C. Dehart and two goals and two assists from A.J. Ray.
The Patriots hammered visiting Eastern Guilford 18-1 as Tustin Johnson posted five goals and Dehart added three goals.
- Williams edged host Cedar Ridge 11-9 on Monday for its first victory in four games this season.
- Anthony Biondo, Zack Pisani and Aiden Greene all scored two goals as Southeast Alamance began the season with last week’s 6-5 home victory against Roxboro Community.
- Eastern Alamance fell 8-6 on Monday to visiting Roxboro Community before defeating visiting Revolution Academy 11-5 on Tuesday. KJ Maynard had five goals, Eli Wiley posted four goals and Edgar Rivera scored twice in the victory.
- Western Alamance lost its opener 7-6 at Voyager Academy on Monday.
Softball
Rachel Byrd and Edie Stewart homered in Eastern Alamance’s 13-0 victory against visiting Southern Alamance in the Mid-Carolina Conference on Friday.
Winning pitcher Carley Boggs allowed one hit in the 4½-inning game.
Eastern lost non-conference games Saturday, falling 6-2 to Central Davidson and 2-1 to Weddington.
- Southern blitzed visiting Williams 20-0 on Tuesday.
- Ava Wheeley had three hits and Katie Lloyd scored three runs in Southeast Alamance’s 6-4 home victory against Western Alamance on Tuesday. Maiya Woody was the winning pitcher. Ashlyn Petty homered for Western.
- With Briles Overtone drove in four runs and Petty providing three hits, Western topped host Roxboro Person 11-0 on Friday. Addison Beal threw a five-inning three-hitter.
- Graham lost 19-0 to visiting Roxboro Person on Tuesday.
Girls’ soccer
Keira Scharen and Macie Oakley scored in Southern Alamance’s 2-1 home victory against Northwood. Cayla Shaw’s two goals and Oakley’s one goal lifted Southern past host Cedar Ridge by 3-1 on Friday.
- Western Alamance topped visiting Cedar Ridge 10-1 on Monday with Callie Athas (four goals), Alison Thomas (three goals), Kayley Lee (two goals, three assists), Riley Johnson (one goal, two assists) and Kennedy Vaughn (three assists) leading the way.
- Eastern Alamance’s followed last week’s scoreless tie with visiting Carrboro by defeating host Orange 2-1 on Monday.
- Abby Stadnicar had two goals and Nadia Navarro also scored in Southeast Alamance’s 3-3 draw with visiting North Carolina Leadership Academy on Monday.
- Burlington Christian Academy and host Williams tied 2-2 on Monday with Adalyn House and Maddie Brin scoring for BCA and Ela Young and McKinley Metts scoring for Williams.
Williams was coming off last Thursday’s 2-1 home loss to Asheboro. After dominating most of a scoreless first half, the Bulldogs tied the game on Young’s goal before Asheboro converted off a late corner kick for the winning goal.
BCA won 9-0 against visiting Thales Academy last week with House (four goals, two assists), Kate Cockman (two goals, 1 assist), Reagan Cardwell (two goals) and Maddie Brinn (one goal, three assists) the top producers.
Boys’ golf
Tim Klein of Williams shot 1-under-par 34 in a season-opening Mid-Carolina Conference match Monday at Southwick Golf Course.
That was two strokes better than runner-up Jvan Hamby of Southern Alamance, while Eastern Alamance’s Max Brehler and Southern teammates Weston Pugh and Cooper Dodson tied for third with 39s.
In team competition, Southern had 155 for an edge on second-place Williams’ 167.
Track and field
The Cummings girls’ team finished in a three-way tie for first place in Saturday’s Alton Tyre Relay Invitational in High Point.
D’Anna Cotton won the long jump, triple jump and 100-meter hurdles and the Cavaliers pulled out a victory in the spring medley relay with
Nazaiah Hatfield, Diamond Moore, Honesti Trollinger and Cotton.
The Cavaliers tied with Northern Guilford and host Southwest Guilford, all with 78 points.
On Monday at home, the Cummings girls won a five-team meet by defeating Southeast Alamance, Southern Alamance, Graham and Triangle Math and Science Academy.
