Suspect in attempted murder snared in SC

A man wanted for attempted murder in Burlington has been captured in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina after less than three days on the lam.

According to Burlington’s police department, Lako Ladon Jones had been on the agency’s radar since Saturday when he allegedly assaulted a woman along the 2500 block of Maple Avenue.

The police department recalls that this brutal attack left the victim hospitalized with “serious but non-life-threatening injuries.”

In the meantime, officers obtained arrest warrants for Jones on the charges of attempted first-degree murder, first-degree kidnapping, and assault with serious bodily injury. The 46-year-old suspect is also accused of communicating threats, six counts of assault by strangulation, and the misdemeanor crime of domestic violence.

According to the police department, Jones remained in the wind until Monday when he was apprehended by police in the resort city of Myrtle Beach. He is currently awaiting extradition to North Carolina.
