A man from the northern part of the county has been arrested for his alleged role in a golf-cart accident that claimed the life of his two-year-old child.
James Ronald Stallings, Jr. was taken into custody shortly after the accident on September 5, not far from Stallings’ home at 6757 David Moore Road near the Alamance-Caswell county border.
According to court records, Stallings had not been “in complete control” of the golf cart while he was tooling around with his two-year-old toddler inside the vehicle. The eventual crash resulted in “severe head trauma” and “severe lung injury” to the child, who reportedly received CPR after the accident.
Although court records don’t mention the toddler’s death, the office of Alamance County’s sheriff emphasized this outcome when it sent out a news release about the case over the weekend.
According to the sheriff’s office, Stallings currently faces a felony charge for negligent child abuse leading to serious injury. The 44-year-old white male is also accused of a second felony for the illegal possession of a firearm by a previously convicted felon.
Although court records indicate that Stallings was placed under a $100,000 bond for the child abuse charge, no bond has been authorized for the second felony count.
