Volleyball teams from Southern Alamance and Western Alamance are in contention for the Mid-Carolina Conference regular-season title going into the final week of the schedule next week.
Southern and Western are tied for second place, each trailing Roxboro Person by one match.
Western has a home match vs. Roxboro Person on Monday night and travels to Southern next Thursday.
Western took down host Eastern Alamance 25-20, 25-17, 25-18 on Tuesday with Reese Walker’s 18 kills and 10 service points providing boosts. Riley Walker had 32 assists.
A day after losing at Roxboro Person, Western won 25-14, 25-13, 25-16 against visiting Southeast Alamance last Thursday as Reese Walker had 18 kills.
- Southern beat host Williams 25-12, 25-11, 25-20 last week. Aubrey Allison had 10 digs for Williams.
- Bayleigh Burris racked up 25 service points and Grace Perry had 22 service points as Eastern won 25-6, 25-7, 25-4 at home against winless Cummings last week.
- Southeast won Monday’s non-conference match at Eno River in four sets.
- River Mill had a four-match winning streak end with Tuesday’s 25-14, 25-21, 25-21 home loss to first-place Woods Charter in the Central Tar Heels 1-A Conference.
- Burlington Christian Academy dropped its fourth match in a row with Tuesday’s 25-17, 25-9, 25-11 loss at Wesleyan Christian Academy. BCA’s Kalan Farmer had seven kills.
- Sparked by Eryn Timmons’ 21 service points, 11 assists and 10 kills, The Burlington School won 25-19, 26-24, 25-16 at Chatham Hall on Tuesday.
