Alamance Community College officials have promoted ACC’s public information director, Sarah Hardin, to a cabinet-level role as ACC’s Associate Vice President of Communications and Public Affairs.
ACC president Dr. Ken Ingle told the community college’s trustees during their latest meeting last week that Hardin will be taking on additional responsibilities that include: legislative relations; public safety; and campus printing, in addition to her existing duties related to public information, marketing, and events.
Prior to becoming ACC’s director of public information in August 2021, Hardin had worked as the public information officer for the Reidsville police department from 2018 until 2021; and as a public information officer and victims’ services coordinator for the Alamance County district attorney’s office from 2016 until 2018.
Hardin holds a master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Texas Permian Basin and a bachelor’s degree in Communication and Media Studies from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
ACC officials in a news release Wednesday highlighted Hardin’s efforts to expand the community college’s reach, citing her recent spearheading of a comprehensive “rebrand”; redesign and launch of a new website; and her contributions toward ongoing enrollment growth.
For an example, Beth Brehler, ACC associate vice president of student services, pointed during last week’s trustee meeting to a new collaboration with Hardin to analyze demographic enrollment data in order to develop targeted messaging that they hope will attract new students to enroll at the community college.
“I am excited to step into this new position and to continue the work of transforming our communications and public relations efforts,” Hardin said Wednesday. “It is an honor to lead such dedicated teams and to build on our successes in ways that will further enhance our community’s connection to ACC. I look forward to this next chapter in my career and to the new opportunities it brings.”
A former women’s basketball player for the UNCW Seahawks, Hardin currently coaches the girls’ basketball team at Clover Garden School in Burlington.
