A man suspected of setting fire to an area resident’s car has reportedly been captured thanks to tips from the community.
Jacob Roger Duggins was ultimately taken into custody last Monday for the vehicular fire that he allegedly set in the early morning hours of July 12 at 2222 Durham Street Extension on the outskirts of Burlington.
According to the office of Alamance County, Duggins had fled the scene of the crime after he was caught in the act of torching the car by the vehicle’s owner.
A manhunt later that morning reportedly failed to turn up the 22-year-old white male resident of 3117 Taylor Street, Elon. Yet, the sheriff’s office also received subsequent tips on social media as well as the local Crime Stoppers hotline that eventually led to Duggins’ arrest.
According to the sheriff’s office, Duggins currently faces one felony count of burning personal property. He has been placed under a $5,000 bond since his arrest.
