Area man arrested for possession of rifle with illegal silencer

The office of Alamance County’s sheriff has arrested a rural Graham resident after a search of his property allegedly turned up a rifle equipped with an illegal silencer.

According to the sheriff’s office, Luke Lloyd Clark was taken into custody on Monday after the homemade suppressor was discovered during a larceny investigation in June of 2020.

A resident of 5781 Thompson Mill Road in Graham, Clark allegedly lacked a federal tax stamp for the silencer as mandated under the National Firearms Act. He has consequently been charged with the possession of a weapon of mass destruction and placed under a $2,500 bond.
