Arrest made promptly in Wed. night Graham murder

Graham Police have made an arrest in the shooting death of a man killed in a convenience store parking lot Wednesday night.

Police responded to the call at 10:22 p.m. in a parking lot behind and between the 6-to-1 Mini Mart and the El Palmar Mexican Restaurant on West Harden Street in downtown Graham.

Guillermo Baltazar, 41, of Burlington was found with multiple gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Arrested a short time later at his home and without incident, according to Graham police, was Santos Simeon Abreo Chavez, 34, of 1658 Whites Kennel Road, Trailer 122 in Burlington.

He has been charged with first degree murder and is being held in the Alamance County jail without bond.
