Larry Blount, Jr., a guard on two of the most successful boys’ basketball teams at Burlington Christian Academy, is going to William Peace to play collegiately.
He made that announcement this month, selecting the Division III program in Raleigh.
“To play college basketball has always been my dream,” he said.
Blount, who was the team’s top perimeter scoring threat, averaged about nine points per game during the past season for the Royals (20-10).
Blount, 19, spent three seasons in the Williams program before transferring to BCA and reclassifying so he had two seasons remaining. Earlier in his career, he played for two current area varsity coaches – at Turrentine Middle School (for Bo Williamson, now at Southeast Alamance) and the Williams junior varsity (for Walker Parrish, now at Eastern Alamance). His first BCA season was under coach Eric Dudley before the past season under Nolan Myrick.
“Larry has a peace about him,” Myrick said. “In basketball, it shows up in poise.”
