Broadview Middle School teacher Chanel Jones has been named the 2025 Piedmont Triad Region Teacher of the Year.
The surprise announcement was made during an assembly recognizing the recent achievements of staff and students at the school on Tuesday. Jones is a sixth grade Social Studies teacher with seven years of teaching experience, all at Broadview Middle School.
Jones is known for “her unwavering dedication to her students, building strong relationships with them, and fostering a classroom environment where all students feel valued and supported,” according to a press release from ABSS on Wednesday afternoon.
“Education is not just about imparting knowledge,” said Jones, “it is about nurturing the whole child. It is about creating an environment where students feel emotionally and physically safe, where they are encouraged to explore their interests, and where they learn to value themselves and others.”
Making the announcement was Heather Smith, the 2024 North Carolina Teacher of the Year. Joining the celebration were Will Marrs, the 2024 Piedmont Triad Region Teacher of the Year, Tosha Diggs, Piedmont Triad Regional Director at the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, along with Jones’ friends, family, and colleagues.

Alamance-Burlington superintendent, Dr. Aaron Fleming, applauded Jones for her achievement. According to Fleming, Jones “exemplifies what it means to be an exceptional educator. Her commitment to her students’ growth, both academically and personally, is evident in everything she does. We are so proud to have her represent our district and the Piedmont Triad region as the 2025 Regional Teacher of the Year.”
Jones will now move on as a finalist for the North Carolina Teacher of the Year, representing the Piedmont Triad region.
