Police in Burlington have arrested a man who allegedly pulled the trigger in a fatal shooting that occurred roughly two months ago.
Terrance Raphael Evans, Jr. was taken into custody last Wednesday for the first degree murder of 39-year-old Stanley Gillom, who shot along Burlington’s Queen Anne Street on February 19.
A 34-year-old black male of 1503 Bowman Avenue in Burlington, Evans was apprehended by the city’s police force roughly a month after Gillom succumbed to his injuries at an area hospital.
Prior to Evans’ arrest, the city’s police department had announced the arrest of another individual as an apparent accessory after the fact to Gillom’s murder. According to the department, John Jayquan Moore, IV is accused of dumping the firearm that been used in the commission of the shooting.
In addition to first degree murder, the city’s police department has also charged Evans with another felony-level offense for the illegal possession of a firearm by a previously convicted felon. Evans has been held without bond since his arrest.
