Police in Burlington are looking for the driver of a red pickup truck that struck an area woman in the parking lot of a local shopping center on Friday.
According to the city’s police department, the driver of this vehicle hit 50-year-old Anna Meyers of Gibsonville in the parking lot of University Commons – often referred to as the Target shopping center after the anchor tenant – shortly before 5:30 p.m. The driver reportedly fled the scene after the accident. A witness nevertheless managed to photograph the vehicle, which police describe as a red, older model pickup – perhaps a Chevrolet Colorado.
According to the police department, Meyers was rushed to UNC Hospitals after the accident and remains there in stable condition. In the meantime, police are turning to the public for help finding the driver of the red pickup.
Police urge anyone with information about the vehicle to contact the department at 336-229-3500 or call Crime Stoppers at 336-229-7100 to leave an anonymous tip.
