Burlington police are now investigating the seemingly inadvertent shooting of a 10-year-old while asleep at his home on Shaw Street in east Burlington.
Police report that earlier today, they learned that the child had been brought to a medical facility for attention to his injuries.
Subsequently, officer determined where the child was residing, in the 1100 block of Shaw Street, when the house where he was residing was struck by gunfire several times.
The child was asleep when one of the bullets hit him; the injury is considered non-life-threatening, according to the police.
The police investigation into the shooting continues.
Over the past few months, Burlington police have been grappling with a series of seemingly random shootings across parts of the city, sometimes at cars and at other times at residences. This is the first instance of anyone having been wounded by any of the gunfire.
