Darrell Newton Dr. in Swepsonville closed for two months

Categories:

The N.C. Department of Transportation crews will close Darrell Newton Drive in Swepsonville on Monday, January 29, weather permitting.

Starting at 9:00 a.m. Monday, the road will be closed so crews can safely replace a pipe under the roadway. The work is anticipated to last through the end of March.

During the closure, a posted detour will utilize George Bason Road, N.C. 54, and Main Street.

Drivers are encouraged to stay alert and use caution when nearing the work zone and following the detours. For real-time travel information, visit DriveNC.gov or follow NCDOT on social media.

So far, the bridge over the Haw River is still open, but Darrell Newton Drive, beginning at the intersection with George Bason Road, is closed.
