An Elon man has been arrested by the Alamance County sheriff’s office for uploading child pornography.
The Alamance County sheriff’s office has arrested Robert Edward Drummond, white, male, 42, 909 Brookview Drive, Elon who has been charged with 2nd degree felony sexual exploitation of a minor.
The arrest stemmed from a cyber tip received by investigators with the sheriff’s Special Victims Unit (SVU) and Electronic Forensics Intelligence Team (EFIT) on Wednesday alleging that Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) files were uploaded by an individual in Elon.
On Thursday, sheriff’s investigators conducted a search warrant at the Elon residence believed to be where the files were uploaded. During the search, electronic devices were seized and forensically examined on site.
With the discovery of forensic evidence, probable cause was found to charge the resident, Robert Edward Drummond, with uploading a file containing Child Sexual Abuse Material to the internet. Drummond was arrested and taken to the Alamance County Detention Center where he was placed under a $20,000 secured bond.
According to the sheriff’s office, this case is remains under investigation pending the completion of forensic examination of seized electronic devices.
UPDATE: Drummond is a former assistant principal at Williams High School (2015-2019) and principal at Turrentine Middle School (2019-2021), the Alamance-Burlington School System has confirmed. His online profile lists him as an Upward Bound Assistant Director at UNC-Chapel Hill.
