Former Graham football coach Mike McCauley has died after a brief bout with cancer.

Orange County Schools announced that McCauley passed away Monday. He had been athletics director at Orange High School in Hillsborough since 2016.

“Coach McCauley was a valued member of our staff and community,” Orange High School principal Jason Johnson said in a statement. “He worked countless hours to ensure that our athletic program at Orange High School was a success. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family. He will truly be missed.”

McCauley, an Alamance County resident, died at Alamance Regional Medical Center in Burlington.

McCauley’s seven-year stretch as Graham’s coach ended with the 2011 season.

At Orange, he had been on former Graham football coach Pat Moser’s coaching staff before taking the AD role.
