Southeast Alamance will take the highest seed of any football team from Alamance County into the high school state playoffs this week.
The Stallions (10-0) are the No. 3 seed in the Class 2-A East Region. They open Friday night at home against No. 30 seed Heide Trask (6-4).
Last year, Heide Trask was a first-round loser at Cummings.
Also in Class 2-A, Cummings (8-2) is seeded No. 13 with a first-round home game vs. No. 20 seed SouthWest Edgecombe (5-5).
Graham (1-9) didn’t qualify for the postseason.
Class 3-A
Central 3-A Conference champion Williams is seeded fifth and that sets up a first-round home game against No. 28 seed East Wake (5-5).
Western Alamance (7-3), which finished third in the Central 3-A Conference, holds the No. 16 seed with a home date vs. No. 17 seed Vance County (8-2).
Southern Alamance (7-3), the Central 3-A Conference runner-up and a 21-3 winner at Western Alamance to end the regular season, has the No. 20 seed, meaning a trip to No. 13 seed Cape Fear (9-1).
Seeding is based on a formula that includes team record and a strength of schedule component that, in part, involves the winning percentage of opponents.
No. 29 seed Eastern Alamance (3-7) visits fourth-seeded Pikeville Aycock (10-0).
Class 1-A
Eastern Randolph (10-0) is the No. 4 seed in the West Region with a game against No. 29 seed Swain County (1-9) to begin the playoffs. Graham resident Burton Cates is Eastern Randolph’s coach.
