A Gibsonville man has been arrested for sexual exploitation after he allegedly uploaded indecent materials to the Internet from his home computer.
The office of Alamance County’s sheriff ultimately took Donavan Lavar Summers into custody on Thursday after a months-long investigation that began with a “cyber tip” on June 25 about “child sexual abuse materials” that had been uploaded to Instagram.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies identified Summers as the registered owner of the Instagram account that had been used to upload two illicit files to the social networking site.
They also traced the uploads themselves to the 23-year-old black male’s residence at 519 Wood Street in Gibsonville.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies raided the suspect’s home on Thursday and seized “multiple electronic devices” during their search of the premises. They also arrested Summers on two felony counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.
Summers has been placed under a $10,000 bond since his arrest.
