Granville County man charged with abducting daughter from mom’s home near Altamahaw

A man from Granville County has been arrested after he tried to spirit his daughter away from her mother’s home near Altamahaw – allegedly against the child’s expressed wishes.

Armonde Raheem Landis was ultimately taken into custody in the small hours on Tuesday after deputies caught up with him and his daughter along Page Town Road.

According to the office of Alamance County’s sheriff, the child told deputies that her father had taken her from her mother’s home along Gilliam Church Road and forced her to accompany him even when, about two miles into their journey, she got out of his car and tried to walk home.

A 22-year-old black male from 304 Sunset Drive in Oxford, Landis has been charged with second-degree kidnapping for his apparently ill-conceived attempt to make off with his daughter. He has been placed under a $2,500 bond.
