Western Alamance alum Joshua Karty is back in the NFL – and back with the Los Angeles Rams.
In a whirlwind several days last week, he was added to the Rams’ practice squad midweek and then activated and played in Sunday’s game, when the Rams defeated the Los Angeles Chargers 24-9.
Karty handled the kickoffs, while Brandon McManus, who’s relatively new to the Rams, continued to do the place kicking.
“That was a unit that we felt like we’d had successful outcomes with Josh kicking some of those squib or those dirty balls, however you want to look at it, and he’ll keep getting better at it,” Rams coach Sean McVay told reporters after Sunday’s game. “Sometimes your roster might not allow you to be able to do that, but that was the thinking.”
Karty was drafted by the Rams in 2024 out of Stanford. He spent the 2024 season and about half of the 2025 season as the team’s kicker before he was replaced.
Karty, 24, has played in 25 NFL games.
This weekend, the Rams (4-4) face the host Washington Commanders (2-4-1) on Sunday afternoon.
