Katy O’Day selected as The Burlington School’s Teacher of the Year

Middle School Spanish teacher Katy O’Day has been selected as The Burlington School’s (TBS) 2020-21 Teacher of the Year. O’Day has been teaching for twenty years and came to TBS in 2008.

Said O’Day, “This is a year when all TBS teachers are deserving of this honor, so it’s doubly meaningful to be chosen by my colleagues. I’m very proud to represent our school as Teacher of the Year. ”

Kristi Tanner, Middle School Academic Dean, added, “Katy is the ultimate team player and the most caring teacher! She jumps in to help wherever possible in the Middle School. She is energetic and positive, kind and thoughtful, and cares about each student as if they were her child. Katy is a leader on the hall, mentoring new and returning teachers and always striving to perfect her own craft. She cares deeply for The Burlington School and the community here, and always works to make TBS the best place possible!”

“There is no other place like TBS,” stated O’Day. “I knew this the first day I walked into the building and could sense the purpose the teachers and students had towards learning and building the community. Over the years TBS has not been just a workplace, but part of our family!”
