On Friday, Burlington police were called to the Walmart at 530 South Graham-Hopedale Road, based on reports that a person was lying in the landscaping along the edge of the property. At the time, police were not sure of the cause of death and they withheld releasing his identity until family members could be notified.
Monday, police revealed that James Michael Mayns, 55, of Burlington had died. Working with the North Carolina State Medical Examiner’s office, it was concluded that Mayns’ cause of death was related to hypothermia. Police have concluded that no foul play was suspected in his death.
