NOTICE PROPERTY TAX LISTING – JANUARY 2024
Notice is hereby given that all persons who own personal property as of January 1, 2024 are required to list with the County Assessor’s Office. All listings must be completed by January 31, 2024. The Tax Department will be closed on January 15, 2024 in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr.
IMPORTANT LISTING REQUIREMENTS FOR 2024
Licensed vehicles with a current license plate are no longer required to be listed on the tax listing.
Taxes on licensed vehicles will be billed automatically along with the renewal of a license plate.
For individual listings, the following property should be listed:

-Vehicles with International Registration Plan tags
-Boats and Motors
-Multi-year tagged trailers
-Airplanes
-Any Unlicensed Vehicles
-Any appliances or other property provided in rental real estate for tenant
All listings for 2024 must be made either electronically (business property only), by mail or at the Alamance County Tax Administrator’s Office located on the first floor of the Alamance County Courthouse Annex. Office hours for listing assistance will be 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. If you have any questions, or need any help, please call the Tax Administrator’s Office at 336-228-1312.
Businesses may now list property and file extensions electronically by going to: https://alamance.civisys.com/bprequest.html# (instructions provided online).
Listing of 2024 taxes will begin January 1, 2024. The deadline for listing is January 31, 2024. Completed forms must be postmarked by the U.S. Postal Service, received electronically (business property only) or in our office no later than January 31, 2024. Property listings received after this date will have late penalties applied.
Businesses: All personal property used for the production of any income must be listed on a separate Business Personal Tax Listing form. If you did not receive one by mail, please call our office to have one mailed to you.
New applicants for Land Use Deferment and other Property Tax Exemptions must submit applications during the month of January.
PROPERTY TAX RELIEF FOR NORTH CAROLINA RESIDENTS
Elderly or Disabled Exclusion G.S. 105-277.1
This program excludes from property taxes the greater of twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000) or fifty percent (50%) of the appraised value of a permanent residence owned and occupied by a qualifying owner. To be eligible for this exclusion you must be a permanent resident of Alamance County, age 65 or older, with an income not exceeding $36,700 or a permanent resident of Alamance County, totally and permanently disabled, with an income not exceeding $36,700. NOTICE: IF YOU ARE PRESENTLY RECEIVING THIS EXCLUSION AND YOUR TOTAL INCOME LAST YEAR EXCEEDED THIRTY-SIX THOUSAND SEVEN HUNDRED DOLLARS ($36,700), OR IF YOU WERE RECEIVING THIS EXCLUSION BASED ON BEING TOTALLY AND PERMANENTLY DISABLED AND YOU ARE NO LONGER TOTALLY AND PERMANENTLY DISABLED YOU MUST NOTIFY THE TAX DEPARTMENT. IF THE PERSON RECEIVING THIS EXCLUSION LAST YEAR IS DECEASED, THE PERSON REQUIRED BY LAW TO LIST THE PROPERTY MUST NOTIFY THE TAX DEPARTMENT, FAILURE TO MAKE ANY OF THE NOTICES REQUIRED BY THIS PARAGRAPH BEFORE JUNE 1 WILL RESULT IN PENALTIES AND INTEREST.
Disabled Veteran Exclusion G.S. 105-277.1C
This program excludes the first $45,000 of the appraised value of the permanent residence of an honorably discharged veteran who has a total and permanent disability that is service-connected or who receives benefits for specially adapted housing under 38 U.S.C. 2101. The benefit is also available to the unmarried surviving spouse of an honorably discharged disabled veteran who is in receipt of DIC benefits.
Circuit Breaker Property Tax Deferment G.S. 105-277.1B
This program allows taxes billed each year to be limited to a percentage of the qualifying owner’s income. However, taxes in excess of the limitation are deferred and remain a lien on the property. The three most current years of deferred taxes prior to a disqualifying event will become due and payable, with interest, on the date of the disqualifying event. You must file a new application for this program each year. To be eligible for this deferment you must be a permanent resident of Alamance County, age 65 or older or be totally and permanently disabled. For an owner whose income amount for the previous year does not exceed the income eligibility limit for the current year, which for the 2024 tax year is $36,700, the owner’s taxes will be limited to four percent (4%) of the owner’s income. For an owner whose income exceeds the income eligibility limit ($36,700) but does not exceed 150% of the income eligibility limit, which for the 2024 tax year is $55,050, the owner’s taxes will be limited to five percent (5%) of the owner’s income.

The Board of Alderman for the Village of Alamance have scheduled their regular Town Meetings for 2024. The regular meeting schedule is as follows – January 22, February 26, March 25, April 22, May 20, June 17, July 22, August 26, September 23, October 28, November 18, and December 16.
This list can also be found on the Village website at www.villageofalamance.com .
All Town Meeting will be held at the Village of Alamance Town Hall located at 2874 Rob Shepherd Drive, Burlington, NC. All meetings start at 7 PM and are open to the public.

2024 Solid Waste Contract
Notice of Request for Proposal
The Board of Alderman for the Village of Alamance has chosen not to renew the current contracted service for solid waste pick up. This contract is set to expire on June 30, 2024. A Request for Proposal (RFP) has been developed to help direct interested parties in applying for this contracted service.
The solid waste contract would cover approximately 450 pick up locations and would service garbage and recycle. TAKE NOTICE that a petition has been filed alleging that the above-described juvenile is neglected. The juvenile was born to Wanda Michelle Baldwin.
YOU ARE HEREBY SUMMONED TO APPEAR on the 24th day of January, 2024, at 8:30 a.m., for hearing, however this date is subject to change. The Court may order the following:
1) If the petition alleges and the court determines at the hearing the allegations are true, the Court may deem the juvenile to be a neglected juvenile.
2) If the court determines at the hearing that the allegations of the petition are true, the court will conduct a dispositional hearing to consider the needs of the juvenile and enter an order designed to meet those needs and the objectives of the State.
3) That the dispositional order or a subsequent order:
a. May remove the juvenile from the custody of the parent, guardian, or custodian.
b. May require that the juvenile receive medical, psychiatric, psychological, or other treatment and that the parent participate in the treatment.
c. May require the parent to undergo psychiatric, psychological, or other treatment or counseling for the purpose of remedying the behaviors or conditions that are alleged in the petition or that contributed to the removal of the juvenile from the custody of that person.
d. May order the parent to pay for treatment that is ordered for the juvenile or the parent.
e. May, upon proper notice and hearing and a finding based on the criteria set out in G.S. 7B 1111, terminate the parental rights of the respondent parent.
IF THE PROBLEMS SET FORTH IN THE JUVENILE PETITION ARE NOT CORRECTED WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME, OR OTHER GROUNDS ARISE UNDER G.S. 7B-1111, A MOTION IN THE CAUSE MAY BE FILED TO TERMINATE YOUR PARENTAL RIGHTS ENTIRELY. UPON PROPER NOTICE AND HEARING, THE COURT COULD TERMINATE YOUR PARENTAL RIGHTS.
YOU ARE HEREBY SUMMONED to appear at the time set for the hearing upon the petition. That upon service, jurisdiction over that person is obtained and that failure to comply with any order of the court pursuant to G.S. 7B-904 may cause the court to issue a show cause order for contempt.
YOU HAVE THE RIGHT to appear at any and all hearings. You have the right to be represented by a lawyer at all stages of this proceeding and may hire a lawyer immediately. A lawyer will be appointed to you if you cannot pay for one and if you ask to have one appointed.
