Man arrested for shooting up his bedroom in his mother’s home

5 shots fired in anger while others in the house

A young man from the northern part of the county has been arrested after he allegedly shot up his bedroom in a fit of anger over the weekend.

The office of Alamance County’s sheriff reports that Kealan Lang Miles, 21, black, male, was taken into custody on Sunday after he repeatedly fired a handgun into his upstairs bedroom at 316 Donelson Way – a Burlington address on the outskirts of Green Level’s municipal limits.

According to the sheriff’s office, the deputies who responded to this incident were initially met by Miles’ mother, Lisa Rogers, when they arrived at the dwelling. Rogers reportedly presented them with a bag containing a handgun that she told them her son had just used to shoot up his bedroom.

The deputies were able to confirm the story with Miles who, according to the sheriff’s office, “admitted to shooting the wall in his bedroom because he was angry.” The deputies subsequently found five bullet holes in the door and wall of the bedroom as well as five empty shell casings on a landing at the top of the stairs that lead to the bedroom.

Miles has since been charged with injury to personal property as well as discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling. According to the sheriff’s office, there were multiple people inside the home when Miles opened fire, although none of them was injured.

Miles has been placed under a $2,500 bond since his arrest.
