Maryellen Millaway Holt, 98, of Burlington, NC passed away at her residence on Sunday, April 19, 2026.
A native of Alamance County, NC, she was the wife of Dorma Earl Holt, Sr. and the daughter of Eugene Delano “Doc” Millaway and Bertha Ellen Isley Millaway, both deceased. She was the first female pharmacist in Alamance County beginning at her family’s pharmacy, Mann’s Pharmacy. Maryellen served over 63 years in pharmacies throughout North Carolina and South Carolina. She was a member of Rock Creek Methodist Church.
In addition to her husband, survivors include a daughter, Pamela Holt Buchanan Johnson and husband Jerry of Burlington; son, Timothy Millaway Holt and wife Kathryn of Burlington; two grandchildren, Michael Glen Buchanan, Jr. and wife Mary and Melissa Marie Buchanan; six great grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; sister, Suzanne Seymour; and four nieces, Frances Guthrie Ingold and husband Johnny, Ellen Guthrie Thomas and husband Randy, JoAnn Seymour Moss, and Ruth Ellen Seymour Thompson and husband Dale. She was preceded in death by a son, Dr. Dorma Earl “D.E.” Holt, Jr.
The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Thursday, April 23, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. by Pastor Anthony Westbrook, Pastor Thurman Horney, and Pastor Al Horne with the family receiving friends from 12:45 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Church Cemetery.
The family would like to express their appreciation to her caregivers, Betty Staton, Anna Shaw, and AuthoraCare Hospice, for the loving care and attention extended to Maryellen.
