Mebane city manager Chris Rollins to retire

Mebane city manager Chris Rollins, who has worked in Mebane for the past 11 years as assistant manager and city manager – and before that in Graham, also as assistant manager and city manager there – has announced his retirement.

Rollins told members of the Mebane city council at the end of their Monday night meeting that he intends to retire “this summer,” after 35 years working in local government.

Rollins worked in Graham for 23½ years – 15½ as assistant city manager and the last eight as city manager – before moving to Mebane where he worked for 8 years as assistant city manager before being elevated three years ago as that municipality’s city manager.

Rollins pointed to a “spectacular team” of employees, including new police and fire chiefs, as well as a new public works director and other top officials.

He said he hopes to “relax, travel, and spend more time” with his family.
