Mebane teen charged with first degree murder in shooting

The Mebane police department has charged a 19-year-old with first-degree murder following a shooting at the Cambridge Park subdivision on the south side of the city at 6:50 p.m. Friday, June 13.

Tevion Waquis Edmonds, 19, black, male, of 1122 Bateman Place, has been accused with fatally shooting Teddy Wataise Edmonds, according to an order that an Alamance County magistrate issued later Friday night. According to other public records, both men apparently lived at the same address.

The Mebane police department did not identify the victim, but the magistrate’s order does.  Mebane police said in a subsequent release that the suspect and victim “were known to one another.”

Edmonds is currently being held without bond in the Alamance County jail. He made his first appearance in Alamance County court on Monday; his next appearance in Alamance County district court is scheduled for Monday, July 7, according to the court file.
