Although it took the firefighters merely 20 minutes to bring the fire under control, they were unable to save one of the home’s occupants, who was pronounced dead on the scene. Another victim reportedly emerged from the fire with “substantial burns” after plunging into the inferno in an attempt to rescue the first individual. According to the fire department, the surviving victim was in critical condition as of 12:04 a.m. on Tuesday.
The fire department notes that the intense heat of the fire completely destroyed the residence before it was extinguished. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
