The Burlington Fire Department responded to a building fire at 138 Martin Street off of Gilliam Road, in the early morning hours of December 11, 2020, at approximately 3:30 am.

Firefighters arrived to find heavy fire and smoke coming from a large outbuilding behind a residence.

Firefighters began operations, confirmed there were no occupants in the building, as well as ensured people in a nearby house were safe.

The fire was under control in approximately 30 minutes. Burlington firefighters remained on the scene for several hours extinguishing hot spots throughout the remains of the building.

There were no injuries to the occupants or responding firefighters, according to the fire department. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

Damage estimates to the structure are $50,000 and $300,000 to the contents, as well as $10,000 to a nearby house that sustained heat damage from the fire, according to the department.
