Police identify suspect in recent Burlington homicide

Easter night shooting at North Church Street trailer park left one dead, another injured

Police in Burlington have identified a suspect in a shooting at a local mobile home park that left one person dead and another seriously wounded.

The city’s police department has announced that it has issued warrants for the arrest of 20-year-old Jose Huber Vasquez-Espinoza for his alleged role in gunfire that erupted at Traveler’s Rest Mobile Home Park on the evening of Sunday April 4 (Easter).

According to the police department, officers reached the trailer park at 2417 North Church Street shortly after 11:00 p.m. to find 19-year-old Marcus Sean Snipes lying dead near a roadway within the park. They later discovered a second victim – 27-year-old Carl Devonte Little – traveling in a vehicle along North Church Street. Little was ultimately admitted to a regional hospital for treatment.

According to the police department, Vasquez-Espinoza is wanted for shooting into an occupied vehicle as well as assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill and inflicting serious injury. Police urge anyone familiar with the Burlington resident’s whereabouts to call the department at 336-229-3500 or contact Crime Stoppers at 336-229-7100 to leave an anonymous tip.
