Southeast Alamance’s girls’ basketball team won 65-49 against visiting Seaforth on Tuesday night in a rematch from March’s postseason.
It was a clash between former conference rivals who met in last season’s East Region final, which also was won by the Stallions on their way to the school’s first state championship. The teams split four meetings during the 2024-25 season.
Rreanna Johnson poured in 22 points, Clara LaChapelle notched 21 points and Shaniya Paylor had 16 points for Southeast (6-0), which led 37-20 at halftime.
Seaforth (4-1) received 32 points from Katie Leonard.
Last Thursday, Southeast defeated host Southern Durham 64-53 with Johnson scoring 19 points and LaChapelle and Inysia McIver both providing 11 points.
- Williams fell 41-33 at Northern Durham last Thursday.
- Eastern Alamance topped visiting South Granville 77-36 last week with Aliya Trollinger scoring 20 points.
- Cummings is off to a 3-0 start after defeating host River Mill 54-11 last week.
- The Burlington School lost 37-35 to Fayetteville’s Trinity Christian on Saturday despite Kennedy Harrelson’s 15 points.
Boys’ basketball
Southern Alamance won its season opener by topping host Northwest Guilford 64-57 behind Jasiah Allen’s 21 points Tuesday night. Ten of Allen’s points came on free throws.
- Davian Edwards scored 30 points as Southeast Alamance edged visiting Seaforth 74-64 on Tuesday night. Donnie Fairley added 19 points.
- Williams ran past host Northern Durham 86-65 last Thursday with Colby Elliott racking up 20 points and Kyrian Fuller and Bubba Sims supplying 19 points apiece.
- Eastern Alamance defeated South Granville for the second time with last week’s 79-57 home victory as Xavier McPherson scored 22 points and Mason Murphy had 15 points.
- Cummings fell 73-31 at High Point Andrews last week.
- The Burlington School dropped a 66-57 decision to Blue Ridge of St. George, Virginia, on Saturday despite Geren Holmes pumping in 24 points.
That came a day after the Spartans defeated Hargrave Military Academy 63-55 of Chatham, Virginia, with Holmes posting 15 points.
- Burlington Christian Academy dropped a 76-70 decision to Bishop McGuinness on Saturday and lost 60-49 to visiting Grace Christian on Tuesday.
