Sykes belted his first collegiate grand slam on the final day of the Pride’s regular season. The first-inning smash gave Greensboro a 4-0 lead in an eventual 5-4 victory against North Carolina Wesleyan.

Greensboro went 1-2 in the USA South Tournament in Rocky Mount and finished with a 24-19 record.

Greensboro College senior Alexis Sox, a Western Alamance alum, was an All-USA South Conference first-team at-large selection.

The first baseman batted a team-high .383 with two home runs and team-leading 23 doubles. She shared the team lead in triples (2) and runs batted in (32).

The second-seeded Pride (28-15) reached the USA South Tournament, falling in two games at top-seeded Pfeiffer in the best-of-3 finals. Greensboro entered the title series after winning eight of its last nine games.

Greensboro’s Carley Minter, a freshman catcher out of Western Alamance, checked in at .429 in nine games, which wasn’t enough to qualify her for the list of team or league leaders.
