Southern’s playoff run halted in baseball

Southern Alamance’s season ended with Friday night’s 6-2 loss at Fayetteville Sanford in the East Region’s fourth round.

The third-seeded Patriots fell behind 3-0 in the second inning, pulled within 3-2 in the top of the sixth before the Bulldogs struck for three runs in the bottom of the inning.

Kaden Parker and Nathan McNeal pitched for Southern (19-7-1), which was the Central 3-A Conference champion. Ethan Mann and Eli Gilley knocked in the runs for the Patriots.

Second-seeded Fayetteville Sanford is playing top-seeded Greenville Rose in this week’s best-of-three regional finals.
