Staff member at care home arrested for stealing from residents

An employee at a local assisted living facility has been arrested for allegedly helping herself to financial cards that belonged to two of the establishment’s residents.

Beverly Marie Jeffers was taken into custody on February 4 after the office of Alamance County’s sheriff identified her has the apparent suspect behind these financial card thefts.

According to the sheriff’s office, the 57-year-old black female, who lives at 1431 Lanier Court in Burlington, faces two counts, apiece, of felony identity theft, felony financial card theft, and misdemeanor exploitation of elders. She is also accused of one felony-level count of obtaining property by false pretense.

Jeffers has been placed under a $2,500 unsecured bond.
