Two Snow Camp residents have been arrested by the Alamance County sheriff’s office, each charged with writing worthless checks and obtaining property by false pretense.

Arrested are: Brian Scott Copeland, white, male, 40, 5159 Scarlett Court, Snow Camp who is charged with three counts of (misdemeanor) writing worthless checks and three counts of felony obtaining property by false pretense.

Also arrested was Jacqueline Aaron Tart, white, female, 22, of the same address; she is charged with four counts of (misdemeanor) writing worthless checks and four counts of felony obtaining property by false pretense.

The arrests stem from a report from the Friendship Corner Store on Bellemont-Mt. Hermon Road south of Burlington regarding bounced checks.  The sheriff’s office investigation concluded that each wrote multiple checks with a zero bank balance – and that each knew at the time the checks were written that there were insufficient funds in the bank to pay for what was purchased.
