WED. P.M: Eastern High School placed on ‘soft lockdown’ after gun reported on campus

But no gun found

Alamance-Burlington school officials reported late Wednesday afternoon that a student at Eastern High School reported another student as having a gun, but no weapon was found.

“The school was placed on soft lockdown while we worked with law enforcement,” ABSS officials reported Wednesday.  Instruction continued as normal within about half an hour, apparently following an investigation into the complaint by the school resource officer and Eastern High School’s administration.

Public school officials typically describe a “soft lockdown” as an incident in which a school doors are locked, barring outside visitors from entering the building, while the school continues otherwise to function normally.
