Western alum plays on winning team in East-West All-Star Game

Trinity Robinson of Western Alamance was on the winning team for the North Carolina East-West Game for girls’ soccer this week.

The West edged the East 1-0 on Tuesday night at Jamieson Stadium on the Greensboro Grimsley campus.

The only goal was scored about two minutes into the game by Hough’s Kylee Thompson, who was voted as the game’s Most Valuable Player. Goalkeepers Elizabeth Navola of Christ the King and Reese DeJong of Cox Mill combined to make five saves for the shutout.

The N.C. State East-West All-Star Games are for recent seniors. Soccer and basketball games are played each summer, while the football showcase has moved to December.

The East won the boys’ soccer game by 3-2. Adam Trusky of Chapel Hill was picked as the MVP after posting a goal and an assist.

Basketball games were held Monday night at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex’s fieldhouse.

The East girls prevailed 84-68 as Jasmine Felton, a Campbell recruit from Northeastern, racked up 30 points and 10 rebounds to earn the MVP award.

In the boys’ game, Jamais Ferere of Southern Guilford was named the MVP after scoring 30 points on 13-for-17 shooting from the field to boost the West in a 108-92 victory.
