Work is well under way on a new Bojangles restaurant along South Church Street in Burlington – not far from the site of another future eatery that the Hursey’s restaurant chain also has in the works.
According to city inspection records, the new Bojangles location is slated to go up on land at the corner of South Church Street and St. Mark’s Church Street Road that had formerly been home to a branch of Capital Bank.
County tax records indicate that the bank’s former owner sold this 1.5-acre parcel to a limited liability corporation in Dobson, North Carolina for $305,000 in October of 2019. Since then, the lot’s new owner has submitted plans for the site’s redevelopment which obtained the final approval of a staff-level technical review committee in May of this year.
The city’s inspections department ultimately issued a permit for the old bank’s demolition on May 25. The department issued another permit on June 15 that allows Summit Properties & Development to build “a brand new Bojangles restaurant” at this location with a 90-person occupancy and a footprint of 3,136 square feet.
