Categories:

The wife of an area resident has been arrested after she allegedly ran her husband down with a vehicle before heading out of the state.

Bethany Brooke Stapleton was eventually arrested in Georgia, where she had apparently gone after the collision last month that hospitalized her estranged husband – Terrance Evans, Jr.

According to the office of Alamance County’s sheriff, Evans had been struck while he was walking along Turner Road in Mebane on the morning of Tuesday, May 14. The investigation into this hit-and-run collision soon zeroed in on Stapleton, who deputies would later discover had departed for Georgia after the apparent attempt on Evans’ life.

According to the sheriff’s office, Stapleton was extradited to Alamance County on June 9 and charged with felonious assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill while inflicting seriously bodily injury.
