M. E. “Mack” Lackey, 88, of Burlington, NC passed away at AuthoraCare Hospice Home on Friday, September 6, 2024 at 6:19 a.m.
A native of Winston-Salem, NC, he was the husband of 39 years to the late Peggy Ann Gray Carter Lackey who passed away October 1, 2000 and the son of Lewis Henry Lackey and Louise Clarice Ervin Lackey, both deceased. He is survived by his son, McSherry Gray Lackey.
Mack retired from the N. C. Department of Transportation as a traffic engineering technician. He was a longtime member of the N. C. Railroad Museum, New Hill, NC and was interested in both real and model trains.
He also loved Pre-WWII antique cars. Mack was a member of Trinity Moravian Church in Winston-Salem, NC. and the First Presbyterian Church of Burlington in Burlington, NC.
The funeral service will be conducted at Trinity Moravian Church, 220 East Sprague Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27127 on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at 2:00p.m. with the family receiving friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in God’s Acre Moravian Cemetery, (Rams Dr. at Salem Ave. entrance), Winston-Salem, NC 27101.
The family has requested casual dress attire. Coats and ties are not required.
