Margaret Allen Loy

Margaret Allen Loy, 97, of Graham, NC passed away at AuthoraCare Hospice Home on Sunday, September 8, 2024.

Mrs. Loy was born March 30, 1927 in Alamance County, NC. She was the wife of 53 years to the late James Edward “Jim” Loy and the daughter of Clyde E. Allen and Cora Coble Allen, both deceased. James and Margaret resided in Fairfax, VA and Annapolis, MD for 32 years of their marriage, but Graham and family were always home in their hearts. In 1985, they returned home to Graham.

Margaret was a graduate of Alexander Wilson High School Class of 1944 and attended the Art Institute for Fashion Design, Pittsburgh, PA. Margaret enjoyed painting with oils and watercolor, collecting antiques, gardening, and flowers. She looked forward to the return of hummingbirds each year. Her greatest joy was her family and friends. She was a member of Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Sandy Kay Dixon of Graham; son-in-law, Perry G. Dixon; grandson, Joshua Loy Dixon of Rockwell, NC; wife of son, Amanda M. Dixon; great-grandson, Ryan Dixon; great-granddaughter, Addie Dixon; granddaughter, Amanda Dixon McMillian of Springfield, LA; Roy McMillian; three great-granddaughters, Phoenix McMillian, Kenley McMillian, and Keagan McMillian; brother, Mardene Allen(Sherrie); niece, Denise Bulla Heckman (Mike) of Graham; niece, Tina Allen of Graham; nephew, Billy Allen of Graham; niece, Deanna Allen of Dalzell, SC; niece, Cathy Whitfield of Graham; and nephew, Tony Whitfield (Tammy). She was preceded in death by a sister, Marcelle Bulla (Don Bulla) and two brothers, Morris Allen (Ann) and Marian Bobby Allen.

The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham on Saturday, September 14, 2024 from 12:45 until 1:45 p.m.  A graveside service will follow at Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. by Rev. Keith Porter.
