Reid Nash Oakley, 87, of Burlington, NC passed away at Alamance Regional Medical Center on Monday, September 23, 2024.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of the late Joyce Marie Hall Oakley and the son of Ernest Francis Oakley and Emma Oliver Oakley, both deceased. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving during the Korean War and a lifelong tobacco farmer. He grew up attending Bush Arbor Primitive Baptist Church and later attended Faith Christian Church and Union Ridge Church.
Survivors include a son, Gregory B. Oakley and wife Lisa of Burlington; daughter, Roxanne O. Tapscott and husband Kent of Burlington; two grandsons, Taylor Oakley and wife Ragan and Brett Tapscott and wife Brooke; a granddaughter, Heather Marie Tapscott; four great grandchildren, Adalida Oakley, Miller Reid Oakley, Reid Tapscott, and Reese Tapscott; one great grandchild on the way; and close friend, Yvonne Brooks. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Doris Cheek, Frances Woody, and Celia Spoon and two brothers, Sonny Oakley and Lynn Oakley.
The funeral service will be conducted at Union Ridge Church on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. by Rev. Dan Ficklin and Rev. Reid Dickens with the family receiving friends from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Union Ridge Church Cemetery.
