Drew Williamson, a former multi-sport standout athlete at Cummings, will be back in the Triad in a coaching role this weekend when the Michigan men’s basketball team visits.

Michigan meets Wake Forest at 1:00 p.m. Sunday at First Horizon Coliseum (formerly called Greensboro Coliseum).

Williamson is an assistant coach/director of player development for the Wolverines. He’s in his 14th year in college coaching.

He followed head coach Dusty May from Florida Atlantic to Michigan last spring. Florida Atlantic reached the 2023 Final Four with Williamson on the staff.

Williamson played basketball for Old Dominion and then professionally in Germany before launching a coaching career. He was also a football quarterback for Cummings.

Michigan opened the season by defeating visiting Cleveland State 101-53 on Monday night.

Wake Forest topped visiting Coppin State 64-49 on Monday before Thursday night’s scheduled home date vs. North Carolina A&T.
